Some questions reach us over and over, before people sign up and after. We’ve gathered them here, with a short answer to each and a link to the guide that covers it in detail.
The essentials, in case this is all you read: paid surveys are real, they’re free, and they’re extra money, not a paycheck. At Zona Encuestas you sign up without a card, answer on your phone and cash out through PayPal from US$5. Sometimes you won’t qualify and some weeks bring no invitations; we say so upfront because it’s better to know before you start.
1. Are paid surveys real, or a scam?
They’re real: brands need to know what people think before they launch a product, and they pay for every valid answer. What also exists are sites pretending to be panels. The rule that tells them apart: with a real panel, the money always flows from them to you, never the other way around.
More detail in how to tell a real panel from a scam, and where the money comes from in why brands pay for your opinion. If the “surveys” arrive through a chat app, read work-from-home scams on WhatsApp and Telegram first.
2. Does joining cost anything?
No, not to join and not afterwards. Zona Encuestas charges no fee and never asks for a card. The brand commissioning the study is the one paying. If a site asks you for money to join, to “level up” or to unlock your payout, it isn’t a survey panel.
3. Which countries can take part?
Most of Latin America, Spain and the United States. Sign-up asks for yours and, if there are no studies for that country yet, we tell you right there instead of leaving you waiting. Studies run country by country, so the number of invitations also depends on where you live.
4. How much can I earn?
Extra money: a phone bill, a subscription, a treat now and then. Each survey pays differently depending on its length, your country and how hard your profile is to find. That’s why every invitation tells you how much it pays and how long it takes before you start, so you decide if it’s worth it.
The honest math, including the times you don’t qualify, is in how much you can really earn with paid surveys. For a rough range at your pace, try the calculator on the home page: it’s an estimate, not a promise.
5. Can I make a living from this?
No, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Surveys turn spare moments into a bit of money, with no investment or experience. If you need steady income, what you’re looking for is a job; if you want to combine several sources of extra money, real ways to make extra money from home has more options, with what each one takes and gives.
We’ve also written guides for two specific situations: making extra money as a student and extra income for retirees without leaving home.
6. Why does a survey sometimes close after two minutes?
Because each study targets a specific profile and has a quota. If the quota for your profile is already full, or your first answers show you’re not who they’re looking for, the questionnaire ends there. It isn’t a bug or a penalty: it happens across the whole industry. What helps most is a complete profile, opening invitations early and answering calmly and honestly.
The five most common reasons, and what to do about each, are in why you don’t always qualify for surveys.
7. How many invitations will I get?
It depends on your country, your age and which studies are running at the time. Some weeks bring several, some none, and nobody at the panel controls that. When few arrive, it’s almost always because the profile is incomplete.
Which details matter most and when to update them: how to complete your profile to get more invitations.
8. Does it work on a phone?
Yes, and that’s how most people answer. Surveys run in your phone’s browser; there’s nothing to install. It helps to pick quiet moments with a good signal, check the length before you start, and avoid your browser’s back button in the middle of a survey.

9. When and how do I get paid?
You request a withdrawal once your balance reaches US$5 and the money goes out via PayPal to the email you signed up with, with no withdrawal fee. Your balance doesn’t expire while your account is active, so you don’t have to cash out the moment you hit the minimum.
The step-by-step, and what to check if the money doesn’t show up: how to cash out survey earnings to PayPal. And for moving it from PayPal to your checking account, and what that costs, see moving the money to your bank.
10. What do you do with my data?
Your answers reach the client grouped and without your name: the brand sees, for example, what share of people prefer a package, not what you said. We use your email to send invitations and account notices, and nothing else; we don’t sell it or hand it to advertisers. You can delete your profile from your account whenever you want; if you have a balance above the minimum, cash it out before you leave.
